Dear Patrons and Friends of The Duncombe Arms,
It is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of nostalgia that I must announce the impending closure of our beloved Duncombe Arms.
As many of you know, this pub isn't just a business to me; it's a cornerstone of my personal and professional life. It's here that I took my first steps as a chef 17 years ago, and after a journey of growth and experience, it's here that I returned to lead the pub alongside my family in 2017.
Over the past six and a half years, with my family's involvement and my parents' ownership, we have weathered many storms and celebrated numerous joyous occasions with you all. However, the current economic climate, with its escalating costs and the unique challenges of maintaining an independent rural village pub, has led us to the most difficult decision we've ever faced: closing the doors of the Duncombe Arms.
This is not a decision we have taken lightly. The Duncombe Arms has been more than just a place of business; it has been our home, a gathering place for the community, and a hub of countless cherished memories. Its walls have absorbed the sounds of laughter, lively debate, and the clinking of glasses in celebration and solidarity.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to every person who has walked through our doors, including all the dedicated staff members, both past and present. Your support has meant the world to my family and me. Your stories, your friendship, and your patronage have been the lifeblood of the Duncombe Arms.
As I prepare to move on to new opportunities, I will always carry with me the spirit and lessons of the Duncombe Arms. Our last day of operation will be the 23rd of December, a day that will surely be filled with mixed emotions as we say farewell.
Thank you once again for being part of our journey. I hope that, until our final day, we can raise a glass together in the true spirit of the Duncombe Arms.
